Rowing Boat Codes
Codes are a requirement for all boats on the tideway (London stretch from Teddington to the sea). So if you are planning on racing in London you will need to order a pair for your boat.

Codes also provide a useful way to keep a club record on what boats are where and which need attention or easy identification, so even if you aren't planning a visit to the tideway it may be a solution for your club.

Regulations
The regulations state that the codes should be 60mm high and of a colour that stands out against the boat and in a clear font. I usually use a black or white code using Arial bold font. The codes consist of 3 letters (club ID) and 3 numbers (boat ID). The codes should be placed on a vertical surface of the boat, above the waterline.

Do you know your code?
Click here to find your clubs code (e.g. ABC), this is then followed by a 3 number code of your choice (from 001-999). Some clubs have a space between code and number others run the figures together (as below).

Examples
This is a typical code for Molesey Boat Club:

The font here is Arial bold.
